Birthday Book Haul!

So my birthday was a couple of weeks ago, and my friends and family know me well. Look at this book trove, treasure untold, how many wonders can one bookshelf hold?

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
I've already read and reviewed this book, but now I've got a copy of my own! Thank you so much, Kathryn! I'm not going to into depth about this book, but if you want to check out my review and synopsis, you can head over to my blog archive.

A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray
I first heard of this book from Jesse the Reader on YouTube. He hauled it in one of his recent videos. I typically watch book haul videos right before I go to bookstores to get ideas. It's a really smart tip because my "to read" list is so long and unorganized. It's much easier just to watch and see what professional readers are reading.
All I know about this book is that it's about parallel universes. I was absolutely hooked by the last paragraph of the synopsis. "As Marguerite races through these wildly different lives - a grand duchess in Tsarist Russia, a club hopping orphan in a futuristic London, a refugee from worldwide flooding on a station in the heart of the ocean - she is swept into an epic love affair as dangerous and it is irresistible." Ooh that's just gives me chills. I'm so excited to delve into this science-fiction-meets-history read!

Me and Earl and the Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews

I originally I picked it up because 1. the cover is eye catching and 2. it gave me sort of a john green type vibe. I must say, I was a little disappointed. It's about this guy and his buddy who make films, who befriend a girl who's dying of cancer. The humor is there, but sometimes it's a little forced. I'll have a review up soon. The movie adaptation is set to come out in June, and I think this might be one of the rare cases where I'll like the story better as a movie.

I Was Here by Gayle Forman
Christine of polandbananasbooks is absolutely in love with Gayle Forman. I'll admit, I've only read one of her books, If I Stay, which I really enjoyed (the movie might have been better, just this once). I've heard great things about Just One Day, but this one's plot caught my eye. I Was Here is about a girl who's best friend commits suicide and her journey to find out why. I was planning on getting it from the library, but when I walked in my local book store and saw the mysterious "Autographed Copy" sticker on the cover of this book, I knew it was fate. I had to buy this book. So now I am the proud owner of an autographed Gayke Forman book! I'm very excited to read this and build my Gayle Forman collection.

Fairest by Marissa Meyer
This book is a companion novel to the much loved Lunar Chronicles (Cinder, Scarlet, and Cress). It is a prequel to the series that details the backstory of the villain, Queen Levena. As much as I love the Lunar Chronicles, I must say I'm a little hesitant to read this book. Throughout the series, I found Levana's chapters rather boring. I'm hoping her backstory will be interesting enough for me to get through this because I don't think I can read Winter without first reading Fairest.

Bad Magic by Pseudonymous Bosch
Now ends the YA section of my book haul. This book is the debut novel of a new series by the same author who wrote the Secret Series. His books are funny, mysterious, and incredibly interesting. I absolutely loved the Secret Series, but I swear no one else has read it. If you are interested in mysterious scientific and historical phenomenons, you should definitely pick up the first book, The Name of this Book is Secret.
Now this book, Bad Magic, is about a troublemaking boy who gets sent to a correctional facility on a remote and volcanic island. There he finds magic, mystery, and some interesting friends. I'm excited to get back into the same humor that hooked me back in the fourth grade.

Shadow of a Queen a Once Upon a Time Graphic Novel
This is a graphic novel adaptation of a tv show I love, Once Upon a Time. It details the story of the evil queen and the huntsman. The art is very interesting because each chapter is done by a different artist in a different style. If you haven't tried watching Once Upon a Time, I strongly suggest it. Badass fighting + fairytales = epic.

All My Friends are Dead and All My Friends are Still Dead *contains spoilers for TFIOS, Sherlock, The Hunger Games, and Merlin.
Now this one's a little different. I already owned the second one, so when I unwrapped the first one (thanks Maeve), I thought it was so I could have the complete set. I then noticed a little note taped on the front that read "fandom edition", and a mysterious sense of forboding settled upon me.
As I turn the first page, I am greeted with this. I immediately start laughing and crying at the same time as I realize what this is.
The rest of this book includes things like this.
Also, the ever painful this
And if you understand this one, I'm so sorry.
Thanks so much for the creative gift! *sobs*

Thus ends the book haul. I'd like to say thanks to all my friends and family for the books and the love and support they give me. I love you guys 💕
